Nerja is a picturesque traditional Andalusian town located 54km east of Malaga on the Costa del Sol. Its temperate climate and its strategic location, easy to reach and perfect as a starting point to visit the other gems of the region, make it a perfect holiday destination throughout the year.

Directly located by the Mediterranean sea and surrounded by the Sierra de Almijara, Nerja’s landscape offers both sandy coves and impressive mountainous views. Several beaches are within walking distance from the town centre, two of which, Playa Burriana and Playa Torrecilla, have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award since 2006.

The most famous and breathtaking viewpoint in the centre of the old town is the Balcón de Europa, located at the end of a beautiful promenade.

At the top of the list of the places to visit in Nerja are the Caves, a natural treasure of historic and cultural interest, with rock paintings and an active programme of concerts. Other places of interest include the Aguila Aqueduct and the church of the Virgen Maravillas. Out of popular culture interest, the Parque Verano Azul is worth a visit as the main setting for the filming of Verano Azul, a popular Spanish television series.

Nerja also offers a wide selection of restaurants, tapas bar, chiringuitos and flamenco shows for you to immerge in the full Spanish experience. Yet, you won’t struggle to find the international spot where you can enjoy a taste of Nerja multiculturalism.

In the immediate surroundings, the small town of Frigiliana, where most of

our villas are located, is well worth a visit. Here, you can enjoy a walk along paved pedestrian steep paths between characteristic white houses and colourful pots of flowers, admiring the tiles recalling the battles between Moors and Christian across the walls.

As mentioned, Nerja is located strategically to visit other beautiful cities of Andalusia, including Malaga, Granada, Ronda, Sevilla and Cordoba.

Spanish towns and cities have an active calendar of local festivals and bank holidays, which can be very interesting to get a full-picture of Spanish traditions and customs – it is worth keeping this in mind when choosing your holiday dates.
